This policy covers scrappytheappy.com, the Scrappy the Appy™ web app, and the Scrappy the Appy™ Android app (together, the "service"). Scrappy the Appy ("we," "us") connects people who have scrap ("Customers") with independent scrappers ("Scrappers"). Questions: scrap@scrappytheappy.com.
1. What we collect
Customers (no account needed): your name, email, phone number (optional), pickup ZIP code, pickup location notes (for example "side of the garage" or a street address if you choose to give one), a description of your items, the type of items, when you want them gone, an optional photo of the items, the scrapper you ask for (optional), your reviews and ratings, your preferred-scrapper choice, and your answer to any labor quote.
Scrappers (account): your name, email, phone number, home ZIP code, how far you will drive, what you take, a log-in PIN (stored only as a secure hash), labor rates you set, the leads you claim or pass, reviews and ratings, and, if you turn on lead alerts, a push-notification token for your device.
Automatically: basic technical data our web host collects (such as IP address, browser or device type, and request times) for security and reliability. The app saves your pickup links or scrapper log-in on your own device so you can come back to them. We do not use advertising, ad tracking, or third-party analytics, and we do not use your device's GPS location; matching uses the ZIP code you enter.
2. How we use it
To match pickups with scrappers near the ZIP code given, show scrap value estimates to scrappers, send pickup and lead updates by email and (for scrappers who opt in) push notification, send log-in codes, show ratings and reviews, prevent fraud and misuse, keep the service safe, and improve it. We may contact you by email, text, or phone about your request, registration, pickup, or reviews, as described in our Terms.
3. Who we share it with
- Your matched party. When a scrapper claims your pickup, they see your name, contact details, pickup notes, item details, and photo so the pickup can happen. Customers see their scrapper's name, city, and rating.
- Public profiles. A scrapper's name, city, join date, rating, and review comments can be shown to customers.
- Service providers that run the service for us, such as our web host and data storage provider, our email delivery provider, and push-notification services (for example Google Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android and Chrome).
- Legal reasons, when required by law or to protect the safety of users or the public.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
4. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Scrapper PINs and log-in codes are stored only as hashes. Pickup pages are reachable only with their private link.
5. How long we keep it
We keep pickup and account information while it is needed to run the service, handle reviews and disputes, and meet legal duties, then delete or de-identify it. You can ask us to delete it sooner (see below).
6. Your choices, and deleting your data or account
To see, correct, or delete your information, or to delete a scrapper account, email scrap@scrappytheappy.com from the email address you used, with the subject "Delete my data." We will confirm and delete your account and personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal, safety, or fraud-prevention reasons. Customers can clear a preferred scrapper at any time from their pickup page. Scrappers can turn off lead alerts at any time in the app.
7. Children
The service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes
We may update this policy by posting the new version here with a new "Last updated" date.
